Re: [802SEC] survey on travel situation

Steve,

I fixed the typo.

Regarding November 2020, I'd like to leave the option, for compatibility with the existing 802.3 survey. Also, I suppose that, in principle, a WG might decide to meet in-person late in the year; for example, in an ad hoc or ballot resolution committee. So I added a note "November 2020 [note: no such meetings anticipated]" to avoid casting the impression that a relocation of the November Plenary was under consideration.

Thanks for the comments.

Cheers,

Roger

Roger,

Thanks for doing this.   I looked over the draft questionnaire.

A few items to considering modifying before running it.

  • The question “In your opinion, when is the earliest you will be likely to attend an IEEE 802 meeting in North America?” includes the answer November 2020.  The November Plenary is scheduled for Bangkok.  Are we indicating with this question we might change the location?
  • Also the last response for that question says “I no longer plan to attend IEEE 802.3 meetings”  Maybe change that to “802” for the broader survey.
  • The question “in your opinion, when is the earliest you will be likely to attend an IEEE 802 meeting in Europe?” also includes the answer November 2020.  I would not want people to misinterpret this question that we might go to Europe.

Regards,

Steve

CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization.

Thanks, George.

Paul just asked me yesterday to prepare such a survey for all the 802 WGs, based on a nice survey that 802.3 is currently conducting. Based on a meeting with David and Paul today, I'm preparing to do that. I'm currently working on getting the OKs from IEEE staff; we're also planning to wait a few days for the 802.3 survey to complete.

If you haven't surveyed your WG, I request that you consider waiting a few days until this general survey is ready. With a single survey, it will be easier to look at the overall results across all of 802.

The current draft of the survey is here. I would plan to offer an alternative input method for those unable to access the survey web site.

If you have comments on the current draft, let me know. The intention is to stick close to the 802.3 survey so that the results can be integrated.

Cheers,

Roger
