PM RE: THANKS!
Along with thanks to the Chair, thanks to the Drafting committee as
well. Without all the great work that they did the 12 hours yesterday
would never have been possible!

Don,
And a big thanks to the chair for your ability to keep this group on
task.
Without your leadership, who knows how late we'd be working this week.
Thanks,
Karen

THANKS!
As of Tuesday, the IEEE SA Standards Board Patent Committee achieved a
significant milestone in its work to update the Patent Policy as well as
the other associated documents. Without the diligent work of the
members of the Patent Committee as well as the other contributors from
all around industry, this milestone would not have been achieved. I
would especially like to thank the members of the core and extended
drafting committees for their quick yet thorough development and review
of the various drafts.
The next steps in the process are as follows:
1) The recommended documents from the Sept. 12th PatCom meeting will be
delivered to the Standards Board on Friday, Sept. 15th.
2) Because these changes affect the Standards Board's Bylaws, a 30 day
letter ballot is expected to be initiated.
3) When and if that ballot is approved, the Bylaws will be delivered to
the IEEE SA Board of Governors for its approval.
In parallel with the above, we will begin working on a request for a
business review letter. The specific timing of that had not yet been
determined but I expect that the changes will not be put into effect
until we are in receipt of a supportive business review letter.
Once again, I offer my most heartfelt thanks for all of your
contributions and work on this.
