You are misinterpreting the standard. There are two ways to use
Reply-To. The standard only addresses (prohibits) one such usage.
The topic of the referenced standard is not Reply-To. It is Reply-To
_munging_. Thus it prohibits changing the value of an existing
Reply-To field. The other topic is the issue of _adding_ a Reply-To
field to message that has with no such setting.
It is completely unacceptable to change the Reply-To field in the
header of a forwarded email message. But at the same time and with
the same degreee of emphasis, it is perfectly acceptable to add a
Reply-To field to the header of a forwarded email message.
I believe we should be using Reply-To on this list, but we should
never override the original authors administrative settings or
content.
