My plans?
Well, to the extent that these things are under my
meager control, I would like to proceed with motion
15 as it is written.
You see, as Nate suspected, I do not share your
opinion that it is obsolete. It is the end result
of a long discussion most of which you have seen on
this notes reflector.
As for tetrits versus octits, that came from one of
the later comments by Baker who pointed out that,
while a 4-state form such as suggested by both Nate
& I (in somewhat different ways) was possible, the
separating out of the sticky bit was simpler from a
conceptual standpoint. As I looked into it, I found
that it also had merit for eliminating interlocks in
hardware implementations in deep pipes.
So I think it still has merit. IMHO, of course.
Let's see how the vote goes before we consider another
way. I'd like to know how the others feel about it.
Wouldn't you? If it goes down perhaps we should
consider Nate's approach next.
But let's let the chips fall where they may.
That is my plan, anyway. Gang aft agley :-)
