Motion 24.02 No
I vote NO on Motion 24.02.
This shouldn't belong to P1788, but to the floating-point arithmetic
and language standards (IEEE 754 already defines these operations,
then this is a purely notational and language support problem).
Concerning the sentence about hardware, this standard is about
interval arithmetic, not about software vs hardware. Even the
IEEE 754 arithmetic can be implemented entirely in software (and
really is for some processors).
There is no reason to limit rounding-upward and rounding-downward
to the 4 arithmetic operations only.
