P-1788 news: Change of sponsor chair
P-1788,
Please note that the chair of the Microprocessor Standardization Committee,
Bob Davis, who has helped us greatly get started, is stepping down.
The new chair is George F. Riley; see:

Bob has been wanting to step down for about a year (I think, to pursue
his consulting, as well as his digital rights management standardization
project.)
In other news, in the last MSC teleconference, new rules were revealed.
In particular, Bob Davis had told us that he would see to it that many
of us were put on the sponsor ballot committee as "outside experts." However,
my understanding is that the new rules stipulate that sponsor ballot
members must be members of the IEEE Standards organization. (I need
to check, but I think any member of that organization can be on a
sponsor ballot committee. Dan, is that true?) In any case, I hope
we can clear things up and have the document ready for a sponsor ballot
in a year or so.
