GPUs and IEEE standard
We have a visitor, Dr. Shirley Moore, a specialist in using GPUs in high performance computing.
While she is not in interval computations, she expressed concern about the fact that many GPUs are not following IEEE 754 standard and thus, while they lead to faster computations, it is not clear how accurate these fast computations are. Good news is that some GPUs are already following IEEE 754 standard, other GPU producers are working on it, and so, hopefully, in a few years, all GPUs will follow the IEEE 754 standard.
