The ISO C standard has a chapter "Normative references" just after
the scope. Shouldn't P1788 have such a section too?
In particular its list includes:
ISO 31-11:1992, Quantities and units -- Part 11: Mathematical signs
and symbols for use in the physical sciences and technology.
In August 2009 I posted a message about this standard, but there
were no replies. This standard specifies notation for intervals in
particular. Unfortunately I don't have a copy, just information from
Wikipedia (that has been much clarified since 2009, but this should
be checked as there may be errors):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_31-11#Sets
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interval_%28mathematics%29#Notations_for_intervals
Note: ISO 31-11 has been superseded by ISO 80000-2:2009.
