That's a fair point.
The better distinction is between functional languages and procedural
languages.
Thanks for the prod - however, the term should be "imperative language".
I had completely forgotten that, because it's so long since I have seen
it used.
In my view (and essentially that of Wikipedia) using "procedural language"
for that is an erroneous neologism. Yes, I know that it's common, but it
is also seriously misleading.
