Motion 42: Decoration system, re-revised text

P1788

I have had a good number of comments (thanks, everyone) on the Decorations text I sent round just before Christmas. I have included most of them in the revised draft that I circulate herewith, and accept them as friendly amendments.

As before there are 2 files
   20121231DecoSystemCirculatedA.pdf with §5 Flavors, §6 Decorations overview,
20121231DecoSystemCirculatedB.pdf with set-based decoration system details.

So they are distinguished from the previous versions by the date 20121231 instead of 20121221.

I have no time now to list the changes in detail. What springs to mind:
- Various typos are corrected.
- In §5, I hope "loose common evaluation" is explained more clearly.
- Operations to disassemble and assemble a decorated interval are now included, in 8.8.8.
- The com decoration has a fuller description.
- The compressed intervals subclause has a number of changes.

I continue to think it is best if the Kaucher group has its own decoration system, as I am not convinced that Nate's system with "ein", for the set-based flavor, gives advantages that outweigh what I see as its disadvantages.

I aim to give a more detailed list of changes before the discussion period ends.

Happy New Year!

John Pryce
