But 1788 is NOT developed on the base of IEEE 754. The Level 1 stuff, as you well know, is based on the real numbers with only one zero. -oo and +oo are only introduced there as a convenient way to denote unbounded intervals.
Please point out to us all places in the text that you think are contaminated by 754 notions such as signed zero and exceptions.
