Re: P1788.1 Motion Numbers are confusing

Ian and all,

The fault is mine, and I apologize.  I was confused because Motion 2 was decided before Motion 1.

The motion currently being voted upon is Motion M001.02.  Current tally is Yes: 11; No 4.

The numbering convention is that for Mx.y, x = 001, 002, 003, etc., numbering consecutive motions as they are moved.
y = 0.01, 0.02, etc., denoting consecutive versions of the motion.

Motion numbers bear no intentional relationship to the standard itself.

Thank you for asking for clarification.  I apologize for the confusion.

Our P1788.1 motion numbers are confusing.

The first motion was "P1788.1/M001.01". It's not entirely obvious which part matches the ".1" of P1788.1. Is it the "001" or the "01"? Why would it have a leading zero?

The second motion was originally referred to as "P1788.1/M002.01", implying that the part before the period is the motion number and the ".01" matches the ".1" of the standard number. Except that more recently what I think is the same motion is also referred to as "P1788.1/M001.02". Did I miss an email renumbering it? What is the numbering convention?
