Applications of interval arithmetic, examples
Hello,
I have created a collection of usage examples for interval arithmetic
[1]. I would like to extend this collection and therefore request your
help. Can you point me to applications of IA from various fields which
are easily explained in a few words and can be demonstrated with a few
lines of code?
I am particularly interested in examples which make use of features from
IEEE Std 1788-2015. There already is a demonstration of Brower's
fixed-point theorem which uses decorated intervals, but I would like to
show more examples that use decorated intervals. There are several
variants of parameter estimation / set inversion which use reverse
operations and algorithms which I have learned from he recent online
course at ENSTA Bretagne [2].

P.S. If you want to share interval arithmetic algorithms over the web or
have your students submit coursework online, there is a new website
OctaveRs [3]. In your browser you can edit/upload articles with text +
equations + code + links. The code is executed in Octave and the
interval package is also available. The interface is in Spanish, but an
English translation is being worked on.
