The moniker eTDP  (for ‘electronic’ TDP ) came up during a coffee break during the San Diego meeting as a possible.

I think Apple probably have first dibs on iTDP

 

But I don’t have strong feelings about the name- something which alludes to TDP but differentiates the metric, and which John and Piers (since they’ve been prime movers for TxVEC) are both happy with is fine by me.

Of the two, I would prefer TDeP Transmitter and Dispersion eye Penalty.  I don’t think including the name of one instrument that might be used to measure this (even though it features in the block diagram) is a good idea.

We were talking about needing a better name for TxVEC because this measurement includes the effects of Fiber Dispersion not just Transmitter effects.  How about TDeP  Transmitter and Dispersion eye Penalty or TDoP - Transmitter and Dispersion oscilloscope Penalty,.
