Re: [802.3_ISAAC] IEEE P802.3dm website updated

All,

I like to bring up 4 comments for people to think about before we head in to comment resolution

as these will change the current structure of the document in clause 201 if accepted.

I recommend that all 4 comments below be rejected.  These comments have no bearing on clause 202.

#390, #391-

Comments suggest that we arrange the PCS be device instead of by path.

i.e. PHY_S and PHY_D instead the current HS_PATH and LS_PATH.

In the earlier drafts I tried to organize things as PHY_S and PHY_D in the PCS but this caused a

lot of confusion because the mechanics to the transmit and receive in PHY_S are not the same

(i.e. HS_TX does not talk to the LS_RX) and similarly for PHY_D.

What we are really trying to describe is how the HS_TX talks to the HS_RX

and the LS_TX talks to the LS_RX.  Hence things were reorganized as HS_PATH and LS_PATH.

I recommend that we reject the approach in comments #390 and #391 as that will cause

reworking the current draft structure and I am not sure how to make it work as it was already

tried initially and caused confusion.  Plus there is no actual text on the implementation of the suggestion in

#392, #393  -

These comments suggest that the PMA be grouped by PHY_S and PHY_D instead the current HS_PATH and LS_PATH.

I recommend we reject these as it is currently organized for the same reason we organized the PCS.

The separate section clearly delineates what applies to the HS_PATH, LS_PATH, and what is in common.

Plus there is no actual text on the implementation of the suggestion in comments #392, #393.

Thanks,

William

I have uploaded an additional presentation from Sujan with a proposal on how powering could be added to the draft in Clause 104 for 3dm.  We will review this presentation as we talk about how to implement PoC next week.

Thanks,

All,

Our webpage for the Interim meeting next week, registration and payment of fee required, has been updated.

The agenda, opening Editor's report and a couple of new presentations related to comment resolution have been added.

Please let me know if you find any issues with the website.

There is a proposed comment resolution order, but if you would like to request that comments be reviewed on a specific day, please send your request at least an hour before the meeting starts on Monday morning.

Thanks,
