[802.3_YANG] IEEE P802.3.2 (IEEE 802.3cf)/D2.3 YANG Data Model Definitions Working Group 3rd recirculation ballot

Dear Task Force Participants,

With this e-mail, I'd like to announce the start of the IEEE P802.3.2 (IEEE 802.3cf)/D2.3 YANG Data Model Definitions Working Group 3rd recirculation ballot.

Open date: Friday 20th July 2018

Close date: Friday 3rd August 2018 23:59 AOE

As stated in the attached announcement, the ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Sunday 28th January 2018. All comments received before the close of ballot will be considered, the one limitation however is that if you are not a member of the balloting group, and therefore cannot cast a ballot, you cannot designate comments as TR or ER since you cannot cast a Disapprove ballot.

Best regards,

Yan Zhuang

Chair, IEEE P802.3.2 (IEEE 802.3cf) YANG Data Model Definitions Task Force

-----

Dear Colleagues,

This is the announcement of the electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group 3rd recirculation ballot on IEEE P802.3.2 (IEEE 802.3cf) YANG Data Model Definitions. Remember that voting, as well as attendance, is a requirement to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status <http://ieee802.org/3/rules/member.html#DOT3>. Instructions for accessing the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments follow this announcement.

The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Sunday 28th January 2018.

Because this is a recirculation ballot, YOU ONLY NEED TO CAST A BALLOT IF YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR VOTE FROM THAT WHICH WAS RECORDED ON THE INITIAL BALLOT OR LAST RECIRCULATION. If you voted previously and your vote has not changed, the last ballot cast will be carried over to this ballot and you do not need to cast a new ballot.

BALLOT SCOPE:

During this IEEE 802.3 Working Group 3rd recirculation ballot, the scope of the ballot is the substantive changes between IEEE P802.3.2 (IEEE 802.3cf)/D2.2 and IEEE P802.3.2 (IEEE 802.3cf)/D2.3 and the unsatisfied negative comments.

CRITERIA FOR STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT:

One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is consistent with the criteria for standards development (CSD) responses which are available at <http://www.ieee802.org/3/cf/ec-16-0142-00-ACSD-802-3cf.pdf>. An Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the CSD responses.

BALLOT OPEN:

Friday 20th July 2018

BALLOT CLOSE:

Friday 3rd August 2018 23:59 AOE

The Project Authorization Request is available at <http://www.ieee802.org/3/cf/IEEE_P802d3d2_220916_PAR.pdf> and includes the following:

TITLE:

Standard for Ethernet YANG Data Model Definitions

SCOPE OF PROJECT:

This standard defines YANG data models for IEEE Std 802.3 Ethernet.

NEED FOR THE PROJECT:

YANG (IETF RFC 6020 or subsequent revision) is a formalized data modeling language that can be used by protocols such as NETCONF (NETwork CONFiguration, IETF RFC 6241), a widely accepted network configuration protocol. Other standards development organizations, e.g., Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) have adopted YANG, and are developing a broad range of YANG data models. Development of standardized YANG models for IEEE Std 802.3 Ethernet will help to reduce the operational cost of managing Ethernet networks.

Thank you for your participation in this ballot and careful review of the draft.

1. Prepare your comments in one of the following three ways. You are STRONGLY REQUESTED to use either the comment tool or spreadsheet. A comment entry tutorial is available at:

<http://ieee802.org/3/ballots/p802d3_comment_entry_tutorial_v1p0.pdf>

a. Access the comment tool at the URL (last updated 16th September 2015):

<http://www.ieee802.org/3/WG_tools/filemaker/Generic_Commenting_Tool_FM.zip>

To use the tool, extract all components into a folder and do not move any component from that folder as this will cause the executable to not work correctly. The tool is:

Comment_Tool_Generic_Solution.exe
