[STDS-802-Privacy] Wi-Fi Privacy news at IETF 93

Hello,

I thought I’d share some news about the discussions we’ve had this week at the IETF93 with respect to 802.11 (Wi-Fi) privacy:

-          The network setup supporting local random MAC addresses from now on will be permanent at IETF and IEEE 802 meetings

o   https://tickets.meeting.ietf.org/wiki/IETF93network#MACPrivacyIETF93

-          Edward Snowden highlights identity and privacy at IETF 93

o   ISOC Blog :  http://www.internetsociety.org/blog/tech-matters/2015/07/edward-snowden-highlights-identity-and-privacy-ietf-93

o   The Register: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/07/20/edward_snowden_to_the_ietf_please_design_an_internet_for_the_user_not_the_spy/

o   MNot’s Blog: https://www.mnot.net/blog/2015/07/20/snowden_meets_the_ietf

Besides these news, privacy and address randomization were discussed largely in several IETF and IRTF groups. You can find the different presentations here: https://datatracker.ietf.org/meeting/93/materials.html

Regards,

Juan Carlos
