P802E : finalizing D1.1 TG ballot resolution, next draft, and next ballot
In the November 2018 IEEE 802 plenary (Bangkok), the 802.1 Security TG
completed its initial review of the P802E/D1.1 Task Group ballot
comments. As is usual at the task group ballot stage, we did not attempt
to wordsmith text for the most complex changes (including in this case a
possible merge of Clauses 8 and 9), but left that task for the Editor.
[As described in the Editor's Foreword>Draft Development" in the draft,
802.1 editors have a responsibility to attempt to craft technically
coherent drafts from the resolutions of ballot comments and from the
other discussions that take place in the working group meetings.
Preparation of drafts often exposes inconsistencies in editors
instructions or exposes the need to make choices between approaches that
were not fully apparent in the meeting.]
Jerome has already prepared an interim P802.1/D1.2 draft that can be
found here:
http://www.ieee802.org/1/files/private/802-e-drafts/d1/802E-d1-2.pdf
and the updated proposed disposition of comments, as of the close of the
Bangkok sessions is here:
http://www.ieee802.org/1/files/private/802-e-drafts/d1/802E-d1-1-pdis4.pdf
These documents are also available in the Privecsg area on Mentor
(sign-in) required.
We will have a P802E teleconference in late January/early February
meeting, to be followed by a further draft (completing the editing tasks
and finalizing the D1.1 TG ballot disposition of comments). There will
be a Task Group ballot of that draft prior to the March 2019 Vancouver
plenary, with resolution of comments at that meeting.
