RE: stds-802-mobility: Hand-off question

Title: Message

Hi

I would like to reiterate that the Five Criteria (as approved) indicate that this is a topic that needs to be addressed (the decision could be that it is not important to the user community - though I doubt that). Some of the issues will be related to layers above the PHY and MAC and will have to be worked in collaboration with other bodies. Similarly we will need to identify what 2.5G/3G technologies we need to interoperate with as we go forward and the 3G market unfolds.

If handoff across air interfaces is not supported, users will need multiple handsets.  Do we really want this situation?

What could be the purpose ?  MBWA is just that - truly broadband, not 3G at all.......

Will handoff be supported between 802.20 and public 3G?
