stds-802-mobility: retransmission limits for 802.11
My research group and I are working in the area of ad hoc networks
and are investigating the interaction between the 802.11b MAC and
other MANET protocols. According to the specifications, retransmission
limits for short and long frames in the 802.11 MAC are 7 and 4,
respectively.
Are there any specific historical reasons or performance results that
discuss why these values were selected? I have not been able to locate
such a paper or other reference.
