Subject: Officer Elections and Candidacy Announcements

Dear 802.20 Working Group Members,

In accordance with IEEE 802 Policies and Procedures, all Working Group Officer elections shall take place at the March Plenary of even-numbered years. The Officer elections for 802.20 will occur at 7:00PM on Monday, March 15, 2004 at the Plenary in Orlando Florida. The election process is detailed in Appendix A of the 802.20 Working Group Policies and Procedures Version 1.0 as posted on the website.

I will stand for re-election as Chair of 802.20. Gang Wu has indicated he will stand for re-election as Procedural Vice Chair (1st Vice Chair) of 802.20. Eshwar Pittampalli has indicated he will stand for Liaison Vice Chair of 802.20. Both Gang and Eshwar will issue their own announcements also.

I fully support the candidacy of our two current Vice Chairs.

Other members of 802.20 are encouraged to declare their candidacy via the Working Group email reflector as soon as possible before the election. Per the Working Group Policies and Procedures, members who declare their candidacy at least eight days before the election shall have their names placed on the paper ballots. Nominations will be taken after March 6, 2004 and March 15th at the Plenary. The ballots will have spaces for these write-in candidates.

Regards,
Jerry Upton
Chair, IEEE 802.20
