Subject: RE: [802-20-GENERAL] Definition of SimpleIP Service

Mark, Jim,
I suggest:
*Simple IP: A service in which the Mobile Station is assigned an IP
address from the pool of IP addresses available within the local IP
subnetwork, along with IP routing service by a service provider network. The
Mobile Station retains its IP address as long as it is served by
a radio network which has connectivity to the address assigning IP
subnetwork. If the Mobile Station disconnects or otherwise leaves this
subnetwork, the Mobile Station relinquishes the IP address, which is
returned to the pool of available IP addresses.

Here is a draft definition of SimpleIP, as I agreed to define last night. I
took the definition (it was a paragraph) in IS-835, and edited it slightly
to
remove the term PDSN, and to make it into a definition.

Any comments?

*Simple IP: A service in which the Mobile Station is assigned a dynamic IP
address from the local
IP subnetwork and is provided IP routing service by a service provider
network. The Mobile Station retains its IP address as long as it is served
by
a radio network which has connectivity to the address assigning IP
subnetwork. There is no IP address mobility beyond this subnetwork.
