Hibernation - Opening the discussion before an electronic motion and ballot

All, the work of the IEEE 802.5 Token Ring Working Group is quickly drawing
to a close. The only outstanding PAR (after the administrative withdrawal
of 802.5z, Link Aggregation) will be the final resolution of the comments
against 802.5v (Gigabit Token Ring), the LMSC recirculation and the
approval of that standard. None of the remaining work requires our working
group to meet. It certainly does not require our presence at the July 802
plenary meeting.

Therefore, I am recommending that we do not meet in July, and instead go
into hibernation prior to that meeting. I would like to forward that
recommendation to the SEC, backed by an electronic ballot supported by the
working group. Before beginning an electronic ballot on this topic, or
even wording the motion, I want to provide ample time for electronic
discussion. To that end, let this note serve to kick off a discussion
period to end May 5th. Following the discussion period, I will hold a two
week electronic ballot to end on May 19th, with results to be forwarded to
the SEC.

Best regards.
