Out of curiosity, if only one person is
interested in a position is there really a distinction between an election and
a confirmation? I view an election with only one candidate as a
confirmation. Perhaps I am splitting hairs but….
Did you have a call for interested parties
concerning this position? Was anyone except Denis interested?

Motion+++ Motion to Confirm Denis Kuwahara as Vice-chair of 802.18--(open
July30-close Aug 29th)
Unless 802.18 has its own approved procedures in place that contradict the 802
procedures I feel that I am forced to vote against this motion.
> As Chair of 802.18, I appointed Denis to the
position of Vice-chair,
and the membership of 802.18 unanimously affirmed that appointment.
Our procedures say:
LMSC Working Group Chairs and Vice
Chairs shall be elected by the Working Group and
confirmed by the LMSC Executive Committee.
By my read of what has been put before me
"appointed by the chair and affirmed by the membership" is not the
same or even equivalent to "elected by the Working Group"
This is no reflection whatsoever on Denis whom I would have been
delighted to vote to confirm had his placement been done according to
If I am mistaken please point me to chapter and verse.
