Re: [802SEC] Joint Press Release on Network Services Contract

I am of a very different mind regarding the quality of service
that we have received. Having had to suffer the major inconvenience
of having my meetings relocated at the last minute because of
"severe networking problems" that were beyond the ability of the
contractor to resolve, I hardly think they deserve an "attaboy".

Beyond that, I don't think that the IEEE 802 LMSC should release
a statement that gives such a glowing endorsement to any supplier.
What's next? Shall we put out a release praising our LCD projector
vendor? Shall we issue a release proclaiming the hotel's virtues?
We rent some great copiers. Don't they deserve equal time?

If this release goes out as a joint release, every supplier we
deal with would be justified in asking for a similar endorsement.
When we pay a supplier for services, we get services, and they get
money. If we are obligated by contract to make a joint release,
then the release should "avoid commercial endorsements".
