[802SEC] FW: ITU International Satellite Communication Symposium (Geneva, 13-14 June 2016)

Dear EC,

Please find enclosed an announcement of a symposium by the ITU-R on behalf of WP1C (Spectrum Monitoring) which includes a preliminary list of topics. The stated goal of the symposium is to “provide an overview of ongoing progress on regulations and measures developed and implemented to prevent interference.” While the “C band” is the only frequency band noted on the preliminary agenda the preparations for WRC-19 will address sharing issues which can impact RLANs.

The symposium does feature a live webcast while physical attendance will require preregistration. I have not seen any further details regarding the webcast but will provide an update closer to the date of the symposium.

Best regards,

Mike

Dear Members of WP 1C and its satellite monitoring CG mailing lists,

In case you have not seen it already, please find attached Circular Letter CR/395 of the Radiocommunication Bureau, dated 1 April 2016, announcing the holding of a two-day Symposium in Geneva on 13-14 June 2016 (i.e. the week after the June 2016 SG 1 block of meetings) at which experts from the industry, satellite operators and regulators from all around the world will provide an overview of ongoing progress on regulations and measures developed and implemented to prevent interference.

This Symposium will be an open event in which national administrations, the satellite communications industry, the user community, other ICT stakeholders, as well as all those with an interest in the topic, are strongly encouraged to participate.

A website for the Symposium (http://www.itu.int/go/ITU-R/SISS-2016) has been established and additional details are also provided in the attached CR/395 in which you may note in particular the planned sessions of the draft Agenda on “Space monitoring” and on “Update to related ITU-R Recommendations, reports and handbooks”.

Best regards,
