Scope creep. I thought the idea of this standard was to come up with a
power supply that all laptops could use, reducing waste. Boy, are we
allowing this to get out of hand.

What about "synchronizing" UPAMD with 2030.1?
December issue of The Institute brings info about some standards related to
power grid.
2030.1 is about communication between (electric) car and grid.
Also IEEE 1547 interconnecting distributed power-system resources (our case:
wall plug, battery, and similar connections)
