Geoff:

"our task" was addressed to and specific to the members of PatCom which was to whom the e-mail was addressed; the PP-DIALOG list was copied.

PatCom's task is to recommend appropriate changes (if any) to the IEEE patent policy to address issues and concerns identified by HP and others at the June 2005 PatCom meeting and subsequently.  These recommendations are to be presented to the SASB at its September 2006 meeting for its consideration.

Would you please repeat the specifics of what you consider to be "our task".

So much has been discussed.
I believe that it would be very helpful in terms of keeping our eye on the ball.

The Patent Committee and others submitted 134 comments against the version 12 documents (available from the pp-dialog drafting committee web page at http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/pp-dialog/drafting-committee/index.html.) Approximately 60 of them are classified as editorial in nature.  

Please review these comments, especially the substantive ones, before the meeting and be prepared to make a recommendation on the disposition of them.  We simply will not have time to debate these ad nauseum if we are to complete our task on schedule, i.e., by the end of this PatCom meeting.  

These discussions will be largely limited to the members of PatCom plus the submitter of each specific comment.
