Re: [PP-DIALOG] Output documents from the PatCom meeting

George,

We have distributed the updated documents to the Standards Board and cc'ed the Board of Governors.  We have identified the specific corrections made.  I do not anticipate this will affect the balloting period.

Thanks Don, we have clarified that what I was looking for was a "clean" version (not red line) of the patcom-proposed changes being balloted at the SASB.  A clean version of the output from  September 12  is now on the  site at http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/pp-dialog/drafting-committee/index.html   The bylaws one there includes the text Rick mentions below

I understand the ballot is underway with a closing date of October 20.  What is the answer to Rick's question how the typo will be corrected on the ballot document?  Does it change any timelines for the ballot?

George:

The output documents from the meeting were posted the day after the meeting and an e-mail was sent to the PP-DIALOG list.  See
http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/pp-dialog/email/msg00164.html

The documents are still posted in the "Drafting Committee" area as was stated in the e-mail above.

Richard, many of us who are not members of SASB do not have the text of the Patcom documents being balloted by the SASB.

Please excuse me if I am wrong about this but I do not recall seeing any update after the SASB meeting

Re: [PP-DIALOG] Output documents from the PatCom meeting

Hi folks,

My colleagues, in their initial look at the PatCom documents, found what we believe to be an omission in the definition of 'Reasonable and Good Faith Inquiry" in the ballot text of Bylaws.  The change was made to Hung Ling’s objection that, without the additional words, the Submitter seems to be required to ask anyone in the world and it was agreed to include the text in red below (“who are from, employed by or represent the Submitter and”) in the Bylaws, page 2.

From the output of the PatCom on 9/12/06:

“Reasonable and Good Faith Inquiry” includes, b 1 but is not limited to, a Submitter using

2 reasonable efforts to identify and contact those individuals who are from, employed by or

3 otherwise represent the Submitter and who are known to the Submitter to be current or past

4 participants in the development process of the [Proposed] IEEE Standard identified in a Letter of

5 Assurance, including, but not limited to, participation in a Sponsor-Ballot or Working Group. If

6 the Submitter did not or does not have any participants, then a Reasonable and Good Faith

7 Inquiry may include, but is not limited to, the Submitter using reasonable efforts to contact

8 individuals
who are from, employed by or represent the Submitter and who the Submitter
9 believes are most likely to have knowledge about the technology covered by the [Proposed]

10 IEEE Standard.

What’s the process for getting this text re-inserted?

           Rick

Output documents from the PatCom meeting

I have updated the PP-Dialog Drafting Committee web page (http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/pp-dialog/drafting-committee/index.html) with the output documents from the September 12th PatCom meeting.  Real-time editing by myself and Dave Ringle were compared to insure all the agreed-to changes were captured.  In addition, I went through the comment database, comment by comment, to make sure all the agreed-to changes were actually made.

These documents will be delivered to the Standards Board on Friday with PatCom's recommendation.
