SUMMARY REPORT OF THE SEPTEMBER 2000 MEETING OF IEEE 802.11:

Our September 2000 meeting was held at the Radisson Resort and Spa, Scottsdale, AZ.  It was hosted by Motorola. Over 250 people attended the joint meetings of 802.11, 802.15, and 802.1.

Task Group G for higher rate extensions to the 802.11b standard received final approval and became a task group. A new SMa (Spectrum Managed 802.11a) study group was formed to address Transmit Power Control and Dynamic Frequency Selection. These requirements were move out of Task Group E into the new study group. A new study group was created to address 5GHz globalization issues.

The next meeting of 802.11 will take place at the 802 Plenary meeting at the Hyatt Regency Tampa, Tampa, FL,  the week of  November 6th to 10th, 2000. See IEEE 802.11 Meeting Plan for details.
