SUMMARY
REPORT OF THE JULY 2001 MEETING OF IEEE 802.11:
Our July 2001 meeting was held at the Portland Marriott Downtown, Portland,
Oregon, USA. About 250 people were present at the opening session. The
working group thanks Winfield Digital & Wireless for providing Internet
access for the meeting over an 802.11b based point to point link.

Document 11-00-331r2 was adopted as changes to the operating rules for
802.11 working group.

Future Interim meeting locations were discussed on Wednesday. The locations
under consideration are Sydney Australia, Dallas Texas, and Monterey California.
The chairs of 802.11 and 802.15 will consider these locations for the January,
May, and September 2002 Interim meetings.

The 5GHz Study Group (5GSG) was extended until the conclusion of the November
2001 Plenary meeting.

The working group passed a motion to rescind the approval and forwarding
to Exec Com of the PAR and 5 criteria for TGj. This means that TGj will
not be formed, and that if a Task Group is subequently formed from the
5GSG, a new PAR and 5 Criteria will be developed.

A motion was passed to send Draft D1.6 of 802.11b-corrigendum to the SEC
for final incorporation into the standard.

A motion was passed to conduct a working group letter ballot to forward
the 802.11F draft 2.0 to Sponsor Ballot.

A motion was passed to conduct a working group letter ballot to forward
document IEEE 802.11/482r0 (the draft of 802.11h) to Sponsor Ballot.

A motion was passed to empower the Regulatory Ombudsman to make document
11-01/468r2 complete and internally consistent for sending to ETSI Project
BRAN.

A motion was passed to empower the Regulatory Ombudsman to make document
11-01/469 r0 complete and internally consistent for sending to IWG2 and
US JTG 4-7-8-9 and US JRG 8A/9B.

Motions were passed to empower the Task Groups to conduct business, resolve
comments, and issue drafts to letter ballots.
