SUMMARY
REPORT OF THE MAY 2001 MEETING OF IEEE 802.11:
Our May 2001 meeting was held at the Radisson at Universal, Orlando,
Florida. Task Group E (MAC Enhancements) has formally split into
TGe for Quality of Service (QoS), and TGi for Security. The previous chair
of the 5GHz Study Group (5GSG), Richard Kennedy, has resigned, and Bruce
Kraemer is the new chair.

A new coexistence study group has been formed under 802. It is expected
to become a Technical Advisory Group (TAG).

Phil Belanger, the 802.11 liaison to WECA , presented an update and report
in the Joint Plenary session on Wednesday. WECA has granted IEEE 802.11
the right to use the WECA logo on the 802.11 web site.

802.11b-cor1 was sent out for a 10 day Sponsor Recirculation ballot.

New operating rules for 802.11 were published in document 11-00-331r2.
The vote on their adoption was delayed until the July plenary meeting.

A “Resolution in Support of the Chair of 802.11 TGg” (document 336r1) was
adopted in the closing session.

Downtown, Portland, OR, USA, the week of July 8th-13th, 2001.
