Four vs. five decorations

Jurgen, Marco,

I greatly appreciate your contributions to the discussion.

As mentioned yesterday, our positions appear to be very close. I think the
main differences can be summarized by two points:

-- I still believe decoration D4/ein as defined in Motion 25 is required
to ensure the deocration system works properly; eliminating this decoration
as proposed in Motion 27 can lead to failures of certain interval
algorithms.

-- I'm skeptical about promoting bare decorations to Entire as opposed
to Empty; on the one hand it is plausible, but on the other hand this
destroys information about the operation that originally produced the bare
decoration.

I note that neither Motion 25 nor Motion 26 take a position on bare
decorations; so for the sake of keeping discussion focused, I attach a PDF
addressing my thoughts only on the first of these two issues. I'll give
examples later addressing the topic of bare decorations.

Sincerely,

Nate
