Re: Motion P1788/M0039.01:IntroductoryText -- voting period begins

Juergen, P-1788,

I like Vladik's suggestion of using "consensus" for
minor changes (i.e. allowing, say 2 days for objections
to be registered). However, we'd better make sure that
the changes are actually minor, (such as correcting
grammatical errors or misspellings), and to portions of
the document that have already been accepted, if we use this
procedure.

P.S. Due to personal reasons as well as the impending end
of the semester, I have fallen a bit behind
during the past two weeks, and will need to study my
private and P-1788 correspondence a bit more to get
the issues clearer in my mind, for possible expedited
processing. In view of this, it would be safe to
process 40, 41, and 42 the usual way.

I have updated theweb side.
One call for voting and 3 "new" motions.
perhaps we can shorten the discussion period for 40 and 41

Thank you. Yes, that's what I meant. Let it be on
the record that we are voting on 1.1 through 1.6.

Best regards,

Wait a moment... Motion 39 was for the following text:

The new text

is rather new and substantially augmented; and discussion thereof
has only just started!

Perhaps you meant to say that the Motion 39 vote is restricted to
clauses 1.1 through 1.6, excluding the new 1.7 and 1.8 -- never mind
clauses 2.x for which John requested a new motion on Nov 30. (John
also requested a motion for clauses 8.8.x, The Decoration System, on
Dec 1st.)

Btw, seeing that no Second has been offered yet, I formally second
the motion on Clause 2 (presumably M40) and the motion on Clause 8.8
(presumably M41).

I see that one substantial comment I made on Clauses1&2 (about 1.1) could
have been made earlier, as the same text occurs in the Nov 11 text that
had been submitted for M39 -- unfortunately I was distracted by other
matters (such as reconstructing my mail file). It is however a show
stopper for me, so if voting does start now, I'll have to say No (and
will formally propose the alternate wording I had suggested yesterday).

Michel.
