Hi Abhi, Thanks for sharing. In the proposed spec text, the initial AP MLD is being replaced with the text “an AP MLD through which it associated with the SME-ME in the past”. I think the term “in the past” is too vague. A device can use Wi-Fi and
switch to cellular and again use Wi-Fi. When the device first connects to Wi-Fi, the non-AP MLD may have performed an initial association with the SMD-ME via an AP MLD 1 (say) and when the device connects the second time, the non-AP MLD may perform an initial association with
the SMD-ME via an AP MLD 2. Both AP MLDs are AP MLDs through which the non-AP MLD associated with the SMD-ME in the past. But I think your intention is to refer to AP MLD 2 and not AP MLD1.
How about rephrase as follows – NOTE – If the non-AP MLD does an SMD BSS transition back to an AP MLD through which it performed an initial association to the SMD-ME (see 37.16.3 (Initial association to the SMD-ME)), the new Per-AP MLD PTK is derived using the existing
SMD_KDK as described in the previous paragraph (i.e., the SMD_KDK is not rederived). Since the term initial association is also not defined in 11bn, I think referring to the sec. 37.16.3 is helpful. We’ve done this in D1.0 whenever the term initial association was used.
