Re: stds-802-mobility: March agenda
All, if there is a serious issue of moving the meeting time earlier, I am
willing to compromise by starting the plenary at 1:30pm instead of 1:00pm on
Monday. That is the time for our first meeting REQUIRED for 802.20
attendance. Even if we start at 1:00pm, there is no way we will be beyond
the familiar boiler-plate slides by 1:30pm, which is the time each of us
should be planning on being there, so I still prefer to start at 1:00pm.
The meeting agenda is developed based on the work ahead of us. Because
there has not been the sense of urgency in the past to squeeze another
couple of hours into our work week is no excuse to continue on a
lackadaisical schedule.
As far as not being able to get a sense of the group, it seems that we are
getting a sense of both those in favor and against the move of the 802.20
start time with exactly the process that is going on now.
Finally, the principal task of 802.20 is to move the work of 802.20 forward.
Understanding that many people have interest in more than one working group,
the conference organizers have specifically planned in substantial
opportunity to interact with participants from other Working Groups, and to
find out what they are planning for the week. There is an 802 opening
plenary where we can hear first hand what is planned for the week. There
are also the set of 802 WG websites where we can read any and all
contributions, including the WG agendas, to learn what is happening. We can
join any and all 802 Working Group reflectors that we have an interest in.
Finally, there is time in the mornings before the meetings while we have our
continental breakfasts, during breaks, and during the Wednesday evening
social, to interact with members of other Working Groups. Given all these
opportunities, I am hard pressed to see why it would be a hardship to miss
the joint wireless opening plenary. On the other hand, I certainly see a
hardship to have 802.20 give up at least two precious hours of our plenary
meeting to attend a meeting that does almost nothing to advance the agenda
and mission of 802.20.
