Re: [802SEC] Action Item reminder to WG/TAG chairs -- obtain feedback from WG/TAG participants

Paul,

Here are the results of the Straw Polls in 802.19.

Regards,

Steve

----------------

Straw Poll #1

Given that IEEE 802 incurs significant expenses cancelling (plenary) face-to-face meetings, it has been suggested that a meeting fee might be charged for attendance at electronic meetings substituting for those face-to-face plenaries.  What would you consider the highest reasonable and fair registration fee range to be: (select one):

a.    $800-$500                    1

b.    $500-$300                   3

c.    $150-$300                    5

d.    Less then $150           2

e.    My employer/sponsor is unwilling to pay meeting fees for electronic meetings.          0

Straw Poll #2

Once government and company restrictions have been lifted, what do you perceive as the reasonable number of face to face meetings (plenaries and interims) per year?

a.    6 following the pre-2020 allocation of 3 plenaries and 3 interims:       7

b.    4                     4

c.    3                      2

d.    < 3                  0

Note for options (b) through (c) the division between plenaries and interims is TBD

Subject: [802SEC] Action Item reminder to WG/TAG chairs -- obtain feedback from WG/TAG participants

CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization.

Dear WG/TAG Chairs,

Please remember to obtain feedback for the 802 Treasurer per the opening 802 EC meeting.  See the below notes on the Action Item from the opening EC plenary meeting draft minutes.

Depending on your WG/TAG size, your closing plenary meetings may be an opportunity to either obtain the feedback or inform participants their input has been requested per the below action items.

Regards,

Zimmerman

02:02 PM

Zimmerman presented attached presentation, ec-20-0131-01-00EC-july-opening-ec-treasurer-s-report.pdf

There was discussion regarding the future of 802 holding meetings.  A question was raised about the possibility of charging for participation in IEEE 802 Electronic meetings.    Rosdahl gave overview of contracts / cancellation policies.  Further discussion about the Treasurer’s Report, the COVID situation and related issues.

Action Item – WG / TAG Chairs – Survey members on following two questions and provide feedback to Zimmerman

1.       Willingness to pay registration fee for participation in electronic meetings held in place of plenary and interim face-to-face meetings.

2.       Once the pandemic situation has passed, what do you perceive as the reasonable number of face-to-face meetings per year?

Action Item – WG / TAG Chairs provide guidance to Zimmerman on target participation rate by WG / TAG membership for effective face-to-face meetings
