P-1788: The voting period for Motion 59, a standard text motion, herewith begins. Upon the logical suggestion of our voting tabulator, voting will continue on this motion until after Monday, January 6 (after the western New Year's holiday). I have attached our lead technical editor's most recent version and comments. Juergen: Please update the on-line list of motions with this information. On 4th Dec, I suggested two small changes to the Level 3 text, and a larger one (see below). Dmitry said he liked them, Ian McIntosh made a point that I think is resolved, and I don't see comment from anyone else. - I attach here the text with the two SMALL changes made. - Another small item. In 14.4, "format" was used several times where it should IMO be either "representation" or "type". Changed. - The LARGER change needs more consideration than we have time for now, so I hope it can be discussed during the sponsor ballot phase. Doing it would make no change to the substance of the set-based standard. Regards John Pryce My 4th Dec email suggested: 1. Larger change was: Make §14.1 to 14.3 apply to all flavors, hence move them to Chapter 1. Not (yet) done. 2. Small change: Revise the reference to endianness. 3. Small change: In 14.4 para 2, it mentions "the only representative of Empty is the pair (+oo, -oo)". I suggest add "... the only representative of [0,0] is the pair (-0, +0)".
